The art of (KEVICC) protest

The introduction of uniform at KEVICC certainly got people animated! Being a creative college it only seems right that the emotion came out through art. I’ve assembled some offerings here, please do let me know if I’ve missed any!

It all started with Amber in a one piece sleepsuit (which she wore for a week). Then came the song:

Then there came the student strike, when a few hundred kids ran rampage, setting off fire alarms and generally having fun.

Their banners read: We can has individuality, a reference to online meme lol cats. All your blazers are belong to us, another meme reference this time to an early computer game with poor English translation, later remixed into a music track

This year 11 student had this to say after the student strike

Naturally a facebook group sprang up, calling itself Kevicc Deserves Better, soon it had become a highly charged rant-fest, and a necessary forum for aggravated parents.

On the day when uniform was worn for the first time the secret page admins changed their banner picture to this

solid black rectangle with the words 'black monday' in white

Ex Kevicc student Cosmo Jarvis has become something of a worldwide sensation, not only charting in Australia, his latest film, Naughty Room, has just been screened on BBC4. Cosmo is running a competition and a current Kevicc student, Alex Mockridge, has entered, mashing together videos of the protest and putting them to Cosmo’s track Tell Me Who To Be, the results of Alex’s work can be found here

Background material on the protests can be found here
