New homes in Bridgetown
New homes opposite the Spar in Bridgetown. The bungalows have been demolished, and replaced. As is the way of these things; flowers are already on the windowsill. I went along to the open day to see what they are like (the houses, not the flowers).
A few dwellings (as homes are now called) are being turned into 58 dwellings. 1,2 and 3 bedroom units where once, frankly cute, retirement bungalows stood. I have to admit some bias at the outset. Firstly, like most people, I don’t like change. And lastly (I’ll keep the ranting to a minimum): will Bridgetown become a ghetto of Totnes – over populated, scruffy, run-down. Will I now be offered drugs on the way to Spar? And if so, will they be any good?
In 7 minutes 50 seconds then: Washing clothes with rain water, passive heating and usable gardens. Damn, I was hoping for controversy:

Less houses turned into more. Sounds like a denser more built-up place, right? The previous bungalows had open plan gardens, separated by slack wires. Even so, I never saw any picnics going on, or gardening for that matter.
I like the Culverdale development, despite myself, and phase Two (renting and part ownership) follows soon. Tor homes can be found here.
